Welcome to the Wild Salmon on Parade website!

When the midnight sun comes up in Alaska we know our rivers and streams will soon be teaming with wild salmon. On the streets of downtown Anchorage, you will discover the most extraordinary salmon run of all. It is to these streets that the wildest of wild salmon faithfully return each summer.

How to find these Wild Salmon. Wild Salmon on Parade are on display from June through August. You will find them swimming their way through city parks, browsing the downtown retailers, or taking a stroll along the sidewalk. Official "Walking Maps" can be picked up at a number of downtown locations or from this website. You can even vote online for your favorite salmon! The making of a Wild Salmon. The opportunity to create a Wild Salmon for the parade is open to everyone. Each year a call for artists is sent out and a jury chooses that year's parade from the submitted proposals. Visit the Salmon Gallery to learn more about this and past years' artists.

Where do they go in August? Wild Salmon on Parade reach their final spawning grounds in September at the annual Fish Fry and Buy dinner auction. Anglers who purchase the required fishing license (a dinner ticket) can reel in their favorite by being the highest bidder. Proceeds from the auction go to Camp Fire USA, the Anchorage Concert Association and the Alaska Conservation Foundation.
