Kristin
Bohne and Jolie Johnsen have been good friends for almost 30 years.
Growing up in Winston-Salem, NC, they’ve worked on a variety
of projects
together throughout the years from a mural in their elementary school
hallway to a futuristic model of a solar-powered city. Throughout the years
they’ve looked for opportunities to collaborate and this year, since they
were finally living in the same state again, the Wild Salmon on Parade
seemed perfect. They each have their day jobs--Jolie owns her own graphic
design/multimedia business, Alaska Design Works, and Kristin works as a
Project Manager at Nerland Agency, Worldwide Partners in downtown
Anchorage—but their true passion is exploring their creative inclinations.
Both Kristin and Jolie have had experience and education in several
different artistic mediums (oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, pottery,
sculpture, etc.), but limited experience with Polymer Clay, which is why
this was such a fun project! Could they become full-time fine artists? Of
course! Would they make money? Maybe. Would that take the fun out of it?
Yes!
