Patricia
Glatter is a life long Alaskan. She is a GED Instructor with Nine Star
Enterprises by day, and an artist at play who enjoys using a variety
of mediums. This will be her third year participating in Wild Salmon
on Parade. Her fish this year is named Sisiutl Salmon. The Sisiutl is
a mythical creature found in northwest native art. This creature
has a head and two serpent heads that extend from it. It is said that
Sisiutl has the ability to transform itself into anything it chooses.
In the piece, Sisiutl has transformed into a salmon totem. The face and
serpents are all hand beaded onto felt and attached to the body of the
salmon. The rest of the salmon body has been painted to look as if it
is wood.
